Description:
A systems of care approach to time-critical emergencies is based on a coordinated and integrated approach to providing the right care to the right person at the right time to ensure the best possible outcomes. As an embodiment of patient-centered care, these systems transcend organizations, people, and disciplines. As the public’s demand for prehospital emergency medical responses continues to increase, and as these emergency medical systems continue to evolve in complexity and capability, it is essential that the next generation of clinical workforce members possess the requisite knowledge and skills to function effectively within these systems. This session will explore current and potential future prehospital systems of care as well as strategies to educate, engage and empower the next generation of workforce members and leaders.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
1. Recall common examples of emergency medical systems of care.
2. Describe the workforce challenges and complexities facing current emergency systems of care.
3. Discuss strategies to educate, cultivate and empower the next generation of prehospital workforce members.
